West Country Cat Club Show 2005

Our Roving Reporter Lesley Williams of Spireshadow Siamese attended the West Country Cat Club Show and brought back the results and picture.. Lesley said of the day:

"First Championship Show

Despite being a rather overcast and drizzly day, it started well for the West Country Cat Clubs first championship show with the Glastonbury and Street Sea Cadets organising the car parking with cool efficiency. Vetting in was quick and easy too, and everything boded well for a good day, especially when we exhibitors were greeted by a welcome bag which included clotted cream fudge and Cider!

The turnout was pretty amazing, having attended the smaller Exemption and Sanction shows required by the GCCF as an “apprenticeship”, I was amazed to see the hall was pleasingly full with over 400 cats arranged in the M.F.Penning show pens - all of which I hasten to add, were stocked with an overflowing array of cat biscuits, food samples and special offers - always a welcome sight for harassed, travel weary, and penniless cat owners. The competition was hot and the judges and their stewards were raring to go!

There were tables heaving with trophies and rosettes ready for the results, the table workers were already heads-down and toiling away, whilst the show manager and her “staff” (husband and daughter) ably fielded such problems as arose throughout the day in order to keep things running smoothly – as always.

Trade stalls were much in evidence and included the omni-present Purrsonal Touch, Royal Canin, R & L Pet Products, Techni-Cal, Russell Hardy Designs and Cat Scratching Posts UK etc, with a few busy and well-attended charity stalls selling bedding and cat toys.

It was all a great success, and on behalf of exhibitors and guests who attended, I would like to thank Elaine and John Robinson, Lisa Tallboys, Jim and Wendy Brine, the entire WCCC Show committee and their countless helpers and supporters for a wonderfully friendly and efficient event – long may it continue! "
